Rachel Lanzerotti is an IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapist, seasoned mindfulness meditation and yoga teacher, and somatic educator. Founder of Five Rivers Yoga Therapy and creator of the RE/ST Method for Pain Recovery, Rachel is a specialist in pain recovery, restorative practices, aging well and life transitions.

As a dedicated practitioner of over 20 years, Rachel’s approach blends movement, posture, breathing, meditation, coaching, and daily practices to release tension, improve strength and balance, and awaken vitality. These evidence-based methodologies and processes of working therapeutically have been researched by multiple National Institutes of Health-sponsored studies.

Rachel has taught meditation and movement groups at UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and San Francisco Village. Rachel launched the Aging Well program at SF Village, and led elders in weekly meditation for a decade.

Rachel has been published in journals, research studies, and periodicals including Race, Gender & Class, Sequence Wiz and Yoga U, the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective and Stanford Magazine, on topics ranging from yoga, health, aging, and sexuality to gender, racial justice, and human rights.

Rachel holds a BA in Human Biology and Feminist Studies from Stanford University and Master of Social Work (MSW) from San Francisco State University. For a decade prior to founding Five Rivers Yoga Therapy Rachel ran an organizational consulting practice with community-based groups, with many years focused on direct action work for nonprofit and social change organizations.
