Last night, I received this challenge: Teach a movement practice on the theme of “boundaries.”
How would you construct a “boundaries” practice, for a group of women who are new to yoga and learning body awareness?
What I found, in prepping, is that it’s very hard to know our boundaries, edges, outer limits, periphery — without first finding our center. I can’t feel it when I’m extending myself too much, emotionally or physically, if I don’t know what it feels like to be seated, with confidence, in myself. Move from the core. Have a spine. Feel the through line….
How do you know what is “you,” and how do you know what is “not you”?
Where in your body do you feel your center? Where do you feel your edges?
And what does it feel like when this changes?
