This week I sat in on another teacher’s restorative class. It’s for people who are unhealthy and hoping to become healthier.
The class consisted of three poses in one hour, spreading toward the floor and abundantly supported by props. In the final pose, blankets covered each of the students as they rested in stillness.
They looked like small mounds of earth.
I looked around and thought about this. Our modern dis-ease comes from forgetting our earthiness. Neglecting to honor our bodies: We are what we consume, and what we create. Many, if not most, of us are deeply exhausted and hungry for what will truly nourish us.
We are small mounds of earth. We are Earth. Healing ourselves is part of healing the earth, and healing the earth heals us. All one.
